Everything you need to know about MapLogiQ — from getting started with your first map to deploying enterprise-grade spatial infrastructure.
MapLogiQ is a fully browser-based Geographic Information System (GIS) platform. Unlike traditional desktop GIS solutions such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS, you install nothing — the entire platform runs in your web browser. This means your team can access, edit, and analyse spatial data from any device, anywhere, without complex IT deployment.
Where desktop GIS often requires expensive per-seat licences, specialist training, and local hardware to process large datasets, MapLogiQ handles all computation in the cloud and presents results in a clean, intuitive interface built for both GIS professionals and non-technical users.
No Installation Cloud-Native Browser-BasedYes. MapLogiQ supports real-time multi-user collaboration. Multiple team members can view and edit the same project simultaneously, with changes reflected live across all sessions. You can see who else is active on a project and what areas they are working in.
Role-based access controls let you assign users as Viewers, Editors, or Admins per project, so you control exactly who can see or change what.
Yes, on Professional and Enterprise plans. Our mobile-optimised interface allows field teams to collect GPS-referenced data using custom digital forms on any smartphone or tablet — even in areas with limited connectivity (data syncs when a connection is re-established).
Field data appears in your project dashboard in real time, enabling office teams to track survey progress, validate submissions, and incorporate field data into live maps immediately.
iOS & Android Offline Capable GPS-ReferencedMapLogiQ supports a broad range of spatial analysis tools, including:
Yes. All plans include a 14-day free trial with full access to the features of your chosen tier. No credit card is required to start your trial. At the end of the trial period you can choose to subscribe or export all your data — nothing is locked in.
Enterprise clients can request an extended 30-day pilot period with a dedicated onboarding specialist. Contact our sales team to arrange this.
MapLogiQ supports all standard EPSG coordinate reference systems, including WGS84 (EPSG:4326), Web Mercator (EPSG:3857), and all South African Lo/32 projection zones commonly used for cadastral and engineering work. Data is automatically reprojected on import, and you can define your project’s working CRS independently from the display CRS.
WGS84 Lo/32 Zones All EPSG CRSYes. MapLogiQ allows you to publish projects as shareable public or password-protected map links, or embed interactive maps into external websites and portals using a standard iframe snippet. You control which layers are visible, what interactions are allowed, and whether viewers can download data.
MapLogiQ supports a comprehensive range of industry-standard spatial formats:
Individual file uploads are limited to 500 MB per file across all plans. Total storage limits depend on your plan: 10 GB (Starter), 100 GB (Professional), or unlimited (Enterprise). For very large datasets — such as national-scale land parcel databases or full-resolution aerial surveys — our team can assist with optimised tile-based ingestion. Contact support for large-data migration assistance.
Yes, on Professional and Enterprise plans. MapLogiQ can consume live OGC-compliant WMS, WFS, and WCS services — including those hosted by national survey departments, environmental agencies, and municipal GIS portals. Additionally, the IoT Live Feed add-on enables direct streaming of real-time sensor data (GPS trackers, environmental monitors, SCADA systems) to your map.
Your data remains yours. Upon cancellation, you have a 30-day window to export all your data in standard formats (GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoTIFF). After 30 days, data is deleted from our servers in accordance with our data retention policy. We will never hold your spatial data hostage — full export is available at any time, on any plan.
All plans include access to standard street map and OpenStreetMap basemaps. High-resolution satellite and aerial imagery basemaps (updated quarterly) are available as part of the Satellite Imagery Add-on. Enterprise clients can integrate proprietary drone or aerial survey imagery directly into their projects.
No. MapLogiQ is priced on a flat subscription model — you pay your plan rate and that is it. There are no per-query charges, no rendering fees, and no data egress costs for normal platform use. If you exceed your storage limit, we will notify you and give you options to upgrade before any data is restricted.
Yes. We offer discounted rates for registered non-profit organisations, government departments, and accredited academic institutions. Discounts range from 20% to 50% depending on organisation type and licence volume. Please contact our team with proof of registration and we will provide a tailored quote.
Yes. You can upgrade your plan at any time and the new features become available immediately — you’ll only be charged the prorated difference for the remaining days in your billing cycle. Downgrading takes effect at your next renewal date. All your data is preserved during any plan change.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), EFT bank transfer (for annual plans), and purchase order invoicing for Enterprise and government clients. Payments are processed in ZAR for South African clients, with USD and other currencies available for international clients.
Monthly plans have no minimum commitment — cancel any time with no penalty. Annual plans are billed upfront and offer a 20% discount versus monthly rates. Enterprise agreements may have minimum terms; these are negotiated as part of your contract. We do not lock clients into multi-year contracts without mutual agreement.
Your data is stored in ISO 27001-certified cloud infrastructure hosted in South Africa (Johannesburg data centre) by default, ensuring compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Enterprise clients can request dedicated storage nodes in specific regions.
MapLogiQ staff do not access your project data unless you explicitly raise a support ticket that requires it — and all such access is logged and auditable. Your data is never shared with or sold to third parties.
POPIA Compliant ISO 27001 SA Data CentreYes. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers uses TLS 1.3 encryption. Data stored on our infrastructure is encrypted at rest using AES-256. Backups are also encrypted and stored in geographically separate locations with daily automated snapshots.
Yes, on the Enterprise plan. MapLogiQ offers on-premise deployment (within your organisation’s own server infrastructure) and private cloud deployment (a dedicated cloud environment isolated from other clients). This option is popular with government departments, mining companies, and financial institutions with strict data governance requirements.
Yes, on the Enterprise plan. We support SAML 2.0 and OAuth 2.0 based SSO, integrating with providers such as Microsoft Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace, and on-premise Active Directory / LDAP. This enables your IT team to manage MapLogiQ access centrally within your existing identity management system.
The MapLogiQ REST API (available on Professional and Enterprise plans) allows you to programmatically interact with your spatial data and projects. Key capabilities include:
Full API documentation is available in our developer portal.
Yes. MapLogiQ’s API and OGC-compliant service endpoints can be consumed by a wide range of third-party platforms including Power BI (via custom connector), Tableau, SAP, and most modern ERPs. For organisations needing a tailored integration, our Enterprise team can build bespoke connectors or middleware solutions as part of an implementation engagement.
Yes. All API-enabled accounts include access to a sandbox environment with pre-loaded sample datasets. The sandbox is fully isolated from your production environment, allowing developers to test integrations, scripts, and automations without affecting live data. API rate limits are also more relaxed in the sandbox to facilitate rapid development.
Our spatial intelligence team is ready to answer any question — whether it’s technical, commercial, or a custom requirement we haven’t thought of yet.
